Pipeline & Storage
CP10-457-000 Line N Pipeline Relocation and Interconnect Project

National Fuel Gas Company’s Pipeline and Storage segment is seeking approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to replace and relocate a natural gas pipeline in Greene and Washington counties, in Pennsylvania.  The new 19-mile pipeline will help improve the reliability of the existing pipeline system, which transports natural gas from the Appalachian region to markets throughout the northeast.

This project includes the construction of approximately 19 miles of a 20-inch pipeline, which will be built in two segments.  The first segment will begin at Interstate 70 and end near the South Franklin/Morris Township line.  The second segment will begin north of Route 18 at Old Concord and will end at the existing Holbrook-Texas Eastern Compressor Station, which is located in Rich Hill Township, Greene County. We submitted our 7c application to the FERC on June 11, 2010. We anticipate construction to begin in October 2010 and an in-service date of November 2011.

Company representatives are currently surveying the property on the proposed pipeline route.  These surveys will provide us with the data needed to help determine the most suitable route for this pipeline project.  Factors used in making this determination include, but are not limited to: environmental or archeological sensitivity, the presence of threatened and endangered species, pipeline engineering issues, site conditions (including locations of buildings, drain tiles, wells and other natural and manmade features), geological conditions and cost.

Once the final route is selected, affected property owners will be offered fair compensation for the use of their land and for temporary economic loss caused by construction. Historically, the presence of a natural gas pipeline, which is buried a minimum of three feet underground, has not reduced property values.  In addition, National Fuel is committed to restoring the areas affected during construction to original or better condition, and allowing the continued use of the land for agricultural and recreational purposes.

CP10-458-000 Line N Compressor Installation Expansion Project

National Fuel Gas Company’s Pipeline and Storage segment is also seeking approval from FERC to construct a natural gas compressor station near the north end of the relocation project above, as part of an expansion project for Range Resources Appalachia LLC.

This project will include the construction of the following items:

  • New, approximately 5,000 horsepower compressor station
    • Located on Coffeys Crossing Road in Buffalo Township, PA
    • Includes 1,300 feet of access road to the secluded site
  • Two miles of 20-inch pipeline
    • Replacement of line that was constructed in 1947

The purpose of this project is to provide transportation for new Marcellus gas production along the pipeline north of the replacement to Texas Eastern Transmission Company’s pipelines at the south end of the relocation.

The proposed timeline for this project is as follows:
